Camp 2 - Move And Teach Like A Champion - Open to Professionals

Move and Teach Like a Champion© is a training and DVIDA® Certification created by Diane Jarmolow, founder of Ballroom Dance Teachers College ® and Kasia Kozak, Blackpool Rising Star Latin Champion. It is designed for ballroom dance teachers of any level who want to better understand how the body works to produce beautiful and efficient movement for both themselves and their students. It will give you tools to Move and Teach Like a Champion© by providing a simple and standardized language for the qualities of movement we associate with champions: balance, posture, strength, flexibility, intensity, partnering, confidence, musicality, clarity of intent, and speed.

The Training – Friday and Sunday

Learn to teach your students the secrets of moving in functional, elegant and powerful ways.

This Level 1 fourteen-hour training consists of learning specific concepts for the purpose of developing these qualities. Each concept has both a “fun” name for ease of teaching, and a “technical” name with a description of how the action works anatomically, with exercises for developing each one. For example “Put on on your PJs” is a concept for teaching how to first stand with full weight (P for pounds) on the foot, move from the joint (J), and send the spine (S) into space.

Upon completion of the training, each participant will receive a certificate of completion from Move and Teach Like a Champion© at the Dance Vision Mastery Camp in Las Vegas, November 2010.

DVIDA® Certification

By adding the option of certification, dance teachers can challenge themselves to thoroughly learn and embrace this new language in the same way our certifications have empowered teachers to use a teaching language for footwork, foot positions, alignment, amount of turn, etc.

To obtain certification, each participant will be given an examination testing the candidate’s ability to demonstrate how he/she would teach the concepts presented at the training. Candidates have the following options for the actual exam:

1. Meet with Diane or Kasia for a 1.5 hour exam.
2. Take your exam via Skype (or similar technology).
3. Send in a DVD of yourself performing the exam.

Note: DVIDA® certification will not be available at the Dance Vision Classic and will need to be scheduled with Diane or Kasia for a later date.

Cost for certification: Complete information regarding certification will be provided at the training course.
